Q: What can I access with this password?
A: All the areas previously accessible through your ID and password such as ACWA’s legislation analysis, eDirectory, and the “Restricted Access" sections. ACWA’s entire web site will now be accessible through your individual login (which is your email address) and custom password. The ID and password combination will no longer work once the individual logins are in place.
Q: What is my temporary ACWA member password?
A: A temporary password has been created for you based on your existing record within ACWA’s database. Your temporary password will be emailed to you prior to Jan. 2, 2007. If you did not receive a notification email indicating your custom password, or you no longer have it, you can have it emailed to you by clicking the “request temporary password” link on ACWA’s login page.
Q: How do I create my custom ACWA member password?
A: If we do not have a unique email address on file for you, no default account will be set up. You will have the option to request access to the "Restricted Access" areas by filling out an online request form available from the login page.
Q: When will I be able to create my custom password?
A: This option will be available starting on Jan. 2, 2007.
Q: Will my custom password ever expire, will I need to change it periodically?
A: Your custom password will never expire, nor will you need to change it periodically. However, should you leave employment from one of ACWA’s Public Agency Member or Friends of ACWA organizations, you will no longer have access to the "Restricted Access" areas of ACWA’s website.
Q: Will I receive confirmation of my new password?
A: Upon initial transition to the individualized logins and password, you will be sent an email with your password. After that, changes you make to your password will generate an automated notification sent to your email address. So if someone logged in to your account without your approval and changed the password, you would be notified and could follow up with ACWA to have it reset.
Q: Can I change my email address and ACWA member username?
A: Yes, you can change your email address online. However, if the domain name of your email address changes, your account may be suspended temporarily until we can verify that you are still eligible for access, based on your employment or relationship with a member or supporter organization.
Q: If I did not receive an email listing my temporary ACWA member password, what can I do?
A: It can mean several things, either ACWA does not have you on file as a member, or ACWA does not have a current email address for you on file, or your email address is not unique. Several people from the same organization cannot share the same email address, since that email address will be linked to your personal information. If you would like to provide ACWA with a current email address, please do so by contacting Sheri Van Wert at sheriv@acwa.com.
Q: If there is an error message stating my email address is invalid-what does that mean?
A: If ACWA has sent you email that has been returned because it is undeliverable, your access to the “Restricted Access ” areas will be suspended until you can provide ACWA with a valid email address. You will receive an error message when you attempt to login. You will also be provided with options to verify your email address and have it unsuspended, or to provide a new email address. Please provide ACWA with your current email address by contacting sheriv@acwa.com.
Q: I am an ACWA associate/ affiliate who is sponsored by a public agency member - do I not have access to the ‘members only’ section any longer?
A: ACWA’s “Members Only” areas have been renamed for “Public Agency Members" only. Associates and Affiliates will have access to much of the information and services available in the "Friends of ACWA" section.
Q: I am a new employee of my agency and my email address is not recognized in ACWA’s system, how do I get it to become recognized?
A: The login page has an option “To sign up and request access.” Simply fill out the form with the required information. ACWA staff will then review your eligibility to access the "Restricted Access" sections. If we can verify your eligibility with our current records, you will be notified that your login has been activated – usually within one business day. If we cannot identify you with our current records, an email will be sent to your organization for them to verify your eligibility. Once we hear from your agency or company, you will be notified of their decision.
Q: I received a message stating ACWA is trying to verify my relationship with my agency or company, what does that mean?
A: When you sign up to request access to the “Restricted Access” area, ACWA must first verify your eligibility. If ACWA cannot identify you with ACWA’s current records, an email will be sent to your organization so they can verify your eligibility. Once ACWA hears from your agency or company, you will be notified of their decision.
