MWDOC Celebrates Water Professionals Appreciation Week by Municipal Water District of Orange County Oct 13, 2023 Member Submitted News Last week, the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) celebrated Water Professionals Appreciation Week alongside water and wastewater agencies statewide to honor the invaluable role of water industry professionals. In recognition of the hard-working individuals who ensure the Orange County community receives clean, dependable drinking water every day, MWDOC featured personal stories from employees across its social media platforms. These features highlighted how water has impacted our lives and why a career in the water industry is essential and rewarding! Interim General Manager Harvey De La Torre also shared a letter of appreciation with MWDOC staff, expressing his gratitude for the continuous and indispensable work within this profession. “Your commitment to MWDOC, our Orange County communities, and our chosen profession of public service is remarkable and admirable,” stated De La Torre. “Whether in the field or behind the scenes, each of you plays a crucial role in ensuring the communities that depend on us have clean, safe, and accessible water – an essential element for life.” Water Professionals Appreciation Week provides a unique opportunity to increase public awareness about critical jobs within the water sector. Through the Water Education Energy Alliance, led and administered by MWDOC, water, energy, and education leaders work together year-round to connect California students with water and energy sector jobs that provide steady, long-term careers that ultimately contribute to the welfare of workers, their families, and the state’s economy.
