Otay Water District Selects Winning Artists of Its Annual Student Poster Contest by Otay Water District Aug 2, 2023 Member Submitted News Six student artists from schools in Chula Vista, El Cajon, and Spring Valley are winners of this year’s Student Poster Contest hosted by the Otay Water District. Winners were selected from 53 submissions for their focus on the value of water and the importance of using it wisely. This year, the District’s educational program invited K-12 grade students in its service area to submit a poster illustrating the theme “Being water wise is…” With no high school entries received this year, the District selected first-, second-, and third-place winners for the elementary and middle school categories. “We are impressed by the representation of water conservation and stewardship in each participant’s artwork,” said Eileen Salmeron, communications assistant and contest coordinator. “Through this program, we find confidence that the young generations have a great awareness of the importance of taking good care of our most precious resource for the future needs of our region.” The District will recognize the six winners at its monthly Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 2. Each winner will receive a gift card, certificate, art kit, and goody bag. In addition, the winning posters are entered in the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s annual student poster contest. MWD selects posters from participating water agencies across Southern California to feature in its art calendar. MWD will notify the winners in August.
