The award, which recognizes excellence in wastewater collection system management, operation, and maintenance, was presented to SMWD at the annual award ceremony on March 14, 2025. This recognition is awarded to agencies or utilities that demonstrate outstanding performance in system reliability, regulatory compliance, safety, innovation, and environmental stewardship. The Large Operator category is held for agencies serving larger populations operating extensive wastewater infrastructure.
